Akari Uragami

Akari was born and raised in Tokyo, 1989

After graduating Musashino Art University as a textile major and ESMOD fashion school in 2012, her work has been exhibited in Korea, London, and California.

In 2016 she lived in London for 1 year, creating public art and completing commissions for musicians.

She then went to California, where she made work for and had a solo exhibition at Marinship Studios.

Akari explores how physically and emotionally, everything in existence is in someway aggregated.

She sees clothes as one of human’s ways of imitating how organisms submit information through their appearance.

Using soft sculpture, she expresses the universality of humans as organisms and their reflection of the present environment, depicting their internal and external phenomena, from all perspectives.
